We are still a nation of bath lovers, and really, there’s nothing more relaxing than sinking into a hot tub full of bubbles. The dilemma is which style, design and size of bath to go for. A beautiful, freestanding roll-top or a more discreet built-in design which will co-ordinate with the rest of the bathroom.
The key is to consider your individual needs and the space available. An elegant, freestanding Bateau style bath may be at the top of the wishlist, but it will require lots of space for the design to work. A talented designer will always consider the bath position first, allowing a freestanding bath plenty of room to be both stylish and functional in the room. Ideally there needs to be enough room to walk around the bath, for the maximum design impact.
A built-in bath is often more practical, especially in smaller spaces, as they utilise every last millimetre including corners and awkward alcoves. Plumbing will be fully concealed and shelves and ledge spaces can be incorporated to maximise storage space. Taps can also be wall mounted for a streamlined finish.
A freestanding bath will create an air of elegance in your bathroom and undeniably be a design statement. They are no longer the reserve of classical designs, with modern and pared back designs becoming very popular and offering equally as much wow factor.
